If your Latvian language proficiency allows you to communicate and study in Latvian and you wish to obtain further professional qualifications or acquire a new profession, you may attend vocational training courses and acquire practical skills in one of the professions offered, for example, that of a tailor, carpenter, welder or assistant cook. If at the end of the training you pass the examination successfully, you will receive a certificate of your professional qualifications that will allow you to work in the chosen field.
If you already have a profession, but would like to develop or improve the existing professional qualifications and obtain a confirmation of your skills in Latvia, SEA offers courses for tailors, bakers, hairdressers and social carers. At the end of the course you will receive a certificate confirming your ability to work in the respective field.
A conversation with the SEA consultant will help you to determine which courses could help you in furthering your carrier and when they will be available (some courses are in high demand and there is a waiting list for them).
SEA also offers an opportunity to acquire/improve computer skills and obtain Category C and D and tractor driver’s licences.
If you attend any courses, in addition to the refugee or person under subsidiary protection benefit, you will be paid a scholarship in the amount of EUR 5 for each day of the training.
